Always great to give this one a spin. To Robinrunaround's comment on dropping Let It Grow: this song had not yet been played. It would be played for the first time that fall.

My 1st Show...
Drove in from prep school with my buddy Spencer in one of the Citroens his family drove (I think his father restored them). New Riders opened and the show was so long between the two bands that at some point (probably during the encore break) a PA announcer told the crowd that anyone should leave who was relying on the MBTA to get home as the last trains would be leaving before the show ended! I remember leaving the show totally jazzed, despite the possibility of being caught out well past the weekday curfew when we got back to campus. I was hooked and never passed on an opportunity to get to a show from then on. Was at the Music Hall the following December for that awesome show on the 2nd. Not a bad start to a personal journey that has spanned over 40 years. While my musical taste has expanded as I've gotten older there is still nothing like the good ol' Grateful Dead and I'll always fondly remember "my 1st time." Peace and out - gOrdO

Just released some spiders and snakes
Just 2 months after legendary February Dane County show.
Promised-intro English accent "The GRATEFUL DEAD"
Deal- This is the no frills model-only 4:23
Brown Eyed Women-Very nice
B.I.O.D.T.L-extra funky intro before beats
Row Jimmy -very mellow
Looks Like Rain -Bob with the spiders and snakes
Wave That Flag -super funny! 'pass the cheese'
Box Of Rain- Nice with Phil and Donna
Big River-Jerry tears thru this!
China Cat Sunflower ->Wow, Jerry's voice!
Jam -> Wow Jerry's Guitar!
I Know You Rider-Great vocals yet again.
You Ain't Woman Enough-Donna Jean, sure enough!!
(This might be the sexiest song the Dead ever did.
Donna almost has me blushing listening to this)
Jack Straw-everyone singing back-up !!!
(No jam before last chorus-just good singing)
Don't Ease Me In- Time to dance!
Jerry-"The woman I love"
Playing In The Band-keeps a good steady pace.
"Daybreak, while I am playin' in the band"
(That is a 16 song first set with 16:54 worth of Playin' bringing up the rear.)
Ramble On Rose- 2nd set opener anytime!
Me And My Uncle- good location
Half Step- always tight in 73-I'm a dancing fool.
Greatest-jam blistering!(pre-jam has tiny cut?)
Loose Lucy-goofy but loveable
El Paso-Bobby has it down.
Stella Blue-nice placement
Around And Around- "never stopped dancing" Bobby!
(From Here Comes Sunshine all the way to China Doll is top shelf especially the jam after Here Comes Sunshine!!!)
Here Comes Sunshine ->Jam->Space->Me And Bobby-> Weather Prelude -> Eyes > China Doll
Sugar Magnolia-not a fan of the scream fest
(15 song second set)
General Summary-They don't extend out on some of the regular rotation tunes but they make up for that inside the Playin in Set 1 and then the whole after Here Comes Sunshine jam is a knockout. And even though it is common for this time period 15 minutes of EYES will do any head some good. If you a fan of extended improving in each and every tune you should look elsewhere but this is a tight show that finds Jerry blazing away as he delivers the goods.
Johnny B. Goode ->We Bid You Good Night-
Donna's vocals and Jerry's soul!
35 tunes for the night
Don't tell me this show ain't got no heart!

Great show. Jerry is very on all night, sharp and explorative, and the rest of the boys step it up nicely. As they get going into the weather report suite, bobby seems to keep missing a little break or bridge, noone helps him out, and no Let it Grow. I doubt if they ever did that again, drop let it grow and hit eyes of the world as a fall back.

An all around beautiful show.By far the best greatest story ever played. The instrumental takes off into......only slightly dampered by Donnas screaching when jerys solo peaks. The here comes sunshine is beautiful. Here comes sunshine stands out also.
